Reif Estate Winery

One of Niagara’s founding wineries! Try their Riesling! We know sweet wines aren’t for everyone, but this wine has been a favourite summer backyard wine and been well reviewed at wine tastings with friends and family!

Oast House

Oast House

More than just a brewery, Oast House is one of our favourite spots in Niagara. Enjoy craft beer, wood-fired pizza, cornhole, BBQ, and a spacious outdoor patio with live music on select weekends.

Silversmith Brewing Company

Housed inside a beautifully restored 130-year-old church in nearby Virgil, Silversmith Brewing Company is a must-visit for craft beer lovers.

Sweet treats

Avondale Dairy Bar

Avondale Dairy Bar

A Niagara tradition since 1955, Avondale Dairy Bar serves delicious homemade ice cream made right on the family farm.

Sarah planned a grad trip to Niagara Falls with a stop here (that’s how good this place is), unloaded a coach bus of 45 grade 8 students, store only accepted card, so she had to put all the ice cream orders on her card and the kids paid in cash. Still worth it.

It’s known for exceptional sourdough bread, buttery croissants, seasonal pastries, excellent coffee, and a thoughtfully curated café menu. It is recommended that you order it in advance to skip long lines.

Beechwood Doughnuts

Beechwood Doughnuts

If you’re willing to venture into nearby St. Catharines, Beechwood Doughnuts is a must-visit. Famous for its creative, handcrafted doughnuts (100% plant-based), this was a favourite amongst Sarah’s roommates in University.

A trail through the Niagara Glen

Hiking the Niagara Glen

If you’re looking to stretch your legs and experience Niagara’s natural beauty, the Niagara Glen is a must-visit. This protected nature reserve features several kilometres of well-marked hiking trails that wind through one of Canada’s oldest forests and descend into the breathtaking Niagara Gorge.

Good to Know: The trails are natural with uneven terrain, stairs, and rocky sections, so sturdy footwear is recommended. Plan for 1–3 hours depending on the route you choose.

Cycling in Niagara

Grab a bike

Rent a bike and explore the scenic roads that wind through vineyards, orchards, and charming villages. It’s one of the best ways to experience Niagara-on-the-Lake at your own pace, with plenty of opportunities to stop at wineries, breweries, and cafés along the way.

Cycle the Niagara River Recreation Trail: This paved trail stretches along the Niagara Parkway, connecting Niagara-on-the-Lake to Niagara Falls. Whether you’re renting bikes for a few hours or the whole day, it’s an easy and scenic ride with plenty of places to stop along the way.
