Our Story
How did you meet?
We met at a mutual friend, Carl’s, 30th birthday party in Niagara on the Lake. It was definitely a set up, as we were the only friends invited. Natalie, Carl’s wife, tried to set us up as beer pong partners, which Sarah quickly shut down. Despite not being beer pong partners, we talked for most of the night. Stephane asked Sarah for her number, but, it wasn’t until 5 pm the next day, after a tough game of golf and a “dead phone” that Sarah received a text from Stephane.
When did you know this was something special?
Both of us knew it was something special the very first time we met. It felt like we had known each other forever.
How did the proposal happen?
It was December, and we had just celebrated Sarah’s birthday in Stouffville with her family. Stephane said that he had a surprise that day, and we would have to leave around 2 pm. Naturally, Sarah wanted to go home to sneak in a nap before leaving, but Stephane had a packed car and he knew that the house would give away clues as to what the weekend had in store. Despite Stephane trying to convince Sarah that we should just stay in Stouffville, we went home for a nap.
Later that afternoon, we set off for the surprise. Stephane pulled up to Wander, a Nordic Spa, and checked us into a cute little cabin. Immediately upon getting inside, Stephane needed some water to calm the nerves, and came back and got on one knee.
We had the most cozy winter weekend at the spa, soaking in our next chapter, just the two of us.
